I’m incredibly
fascinated by the journey of people, ideas, and objects. This
fascination with journey lends itself to the creation of my handcrafted
designs by using materials that have a history — a path that has been
followed.
Some of the
materials I use in combination with sterling silver are antique trade
beads that traveled from 19th Century Europe, to Africa, to a
collector in America. I wonder about the women who wore the beads
around their necks and wrists, beautiful in their adornment under the
bright sun.
When shaping new
pieces, I imagine the fabulous vintage Lucite cabochons with their
harmony of color, swinging the night away to sounds of Big Bands in the
1940s.
Bits and pieces of
my great aunts’ writings, poetry, postcards and jewelry work their way
into the narrative, finding joy years apart from their confined lives.

The copper I use for my jewelry made its
way from an innovative recycling company in Oregon, to my porch roof in
Ohio, to my studio at Water Street where it’s warm and ever changing
color inspires me.
Journeys — The most
amazing thing to me is that every person who wears my handcrafted
jewelry or hangs a wreath in their home continues the journey that
started long ago – they continue the story.
